A good mix of mum and dad

Everyone who sees Madison says how much she looks like Grant....and as a newborn, there was no question who her daddy was, so I find it so interesting how, as she gets older, she changes...still looks like Grant but now she looks like me too.  It's pretty neat to look at baby pictures of both of us and to see her in them.
This is a picture of me when I'm about 10 months? (not quite sure)

These are pictures of Madison at  6 1/2 months

Grant at about 1 year?

Personality

Madison is definitely developing a little personality.  It's pretty neat...and she's seriously funny....makes us laugh every day.

Hmmm.  I wonder what fur tastes like?

Determination...she can't crawl yet...but she certainly wants to!  (and if you look closely at the picture, you can see dog hair hanging from her mouth...from the picture above, where she tried to lick Maya's paw)

Daddy, your whiskers tickle!!!

What?  Why are you laughing?

Trying to put her down for a nap...she pretended she was hungry...but really she was just tired.  She fed herself to sleep!

Peas and cereal....yum!

Falling Down Laughing

Ok, it's Madison falling down...it's us laughing.  Seriously...learning new things is pretty funny....even Madison is smiling.

swimming

Went to the Canmore pool today.  The pools is quite cold so we didn't stay in for long (as you can see from the second picture...she was a little cold), but Madison is a regular fish!  This first picture is underwater.  We let her go to see what would happen..she held her breath and wiggled a bit..here her feet were floating to the surface instead of her head.

pants off

Soooo, I changed Madison's diaper and then put her in her crib for a nap....she wasn't exactly tired, but I figured she would play in her crib for a little and eventually fall asleep.  About 20 min after I put her down I could hear her moving around...thought I would go check on her.  She was on her hands and knees rocking back and forth....smiling up at me, looking pleased as punch...no socks on, no PANTS on!  I'm thinking....I put her pants on when I put her in her crib....maybe Grant took them off....but no...some how she managed to "pants" herself....I wish I could have seen how she did it.  Maybe I need to set up a video camera in her room to catch her doing funny things!

Winter activities

Because of the cold and snow, Madison and I haven't been going on our daily walk.  I tried to push the stroller along the trails with packed down snow a few times, but it was sooo bumpy, I felt as if I was giving her whip lash.  Luckily you can take the wheels off the charriot and replace them with skis, so the family still gets some fresh air.  This was our Christmas day ski.  Madison is wrapped in a  bunting bag and a sleeping bag so she's toasty warm.

I've also been taking her swimming at the pool the last few days.  In 2 weeks we start a mums and tots water class...I think it's actually an aqua fitness class....but I don't expect to get a whole lot of fitness from it...it's more to get Madison comfortable in the water.  A few of my friends are joining me so it should be fun.  I've dunked her under a few times...she is always a bit startled...but not upset.  The great thing about the pool is that it makes her sleep really well in the afternoon.

I'm sure I'm a little biased when I say this....but Maya is the best dog in the world!!!!
