Dance Party

Madison loves having a dance party...here's she trying to teach Evan some moves.  My favorite is the "sprinkler".

Visiting the farm animals

I took Madison and Evan to a farm called Butterfield Acres.  A great little farm to take kids to where they can go into pens with animals, go on a pony ride, a tractor ride and play in little playgrounds they have sectioned off.  Unfortunately it wasn't much fun for Evan...though he didn't seem to mind...he just slept in the stroller the whole time...but for Madison it was fun and scary all at the same time.

It was interesting to see what animals she liked and which ones she was afraid of.  On the whole, the smaller the animal, the more she liked it. (bunnies and chicks she wasn't afraid of at all).  She LOVED the little chicks....and was soooo gentil when I picked one up for her to touch.  (we ended up going into the chick pen a few times.)

She also really liked the goats...it probably helped that they were her size (though once she got used to them she went over and petted the bigger ones) and they weren't shy and came over to her...once she had touched the goats, while still clinging to me, she got a little braver, let me put her down and wandered over to them on her own.

She wasn't a big fan of the horses (...no surprise there...they're huge compared to her) or the sheep....and she clung to me so tightly that I could have walked around not holding on to her at all and she wouldn't have fallen.

Madison turns 2

Madison turned 2 years old on Sunday....luckily we had the house set up in time to have people over for a little birthday BBQ.

We moved into a new house in Calgary (left Canmore) a week ago.  The move was a bit of a gong show....the movers had to bring another truck because we had more stuff than they thought.  I caught the flu the day before the move..so when we were doing the power packing and unpacking I was soooo tired and achey...it lasted for 3 days.  Then Evan and Madison both caught it...Madison had it the worst...and we had to deal with puking for 3 days...AND I broke my toe the first night we were in the new house....kicking a suitcase on the floor at 4:30 in the morning!  BUT we made it....are all unpacked and it feels like home.  Hopefully we're not going to do that again for a while!

The house is awesome....has enough space for all of us....plus a back yard that is so great for the kids to play in.  Grant and I have found a disc golf course only 10 min drive from the house, and mountain biking (decent though nothing like Canmore) a 10 min ride from the house.  And we have started doing more road biking....not the same as mountain biking, but you can do it from the house.  We are sad to have left Canmore, but are definitely happy with the new house and the area we're living in.
