Loving summer

Did a hike with the kids today...first hike that they did all by themselves...we made a rule when we started that hiking meant that they don't get carried...they walk just like we do.  :)  After the first 100m they wanted to stop..so we filled up on food and started again...using flowers, pinecones and a promise of a cool waterfall as distractions to keep them moving.  After the waterfall, the trail gets really steep...it was their favorite part...Madison said it was like rock climbing (there were big rock stairs that they had to get up).  At the top of the hike was a gorgeous, crystal clear lake with fish that we could see coming to the surface to eat moths and bugs...truly fascinating for 2 young kids.  The whole trail was about 4km.

Last week when the weather was great, we went to the quarry almost every day.  We sure love where we live.

This week

A few pictures of all the things that happened this week.

I got a handle bar in the leg while crashing on my bike...this is 8 days after the crash...still really bruised!

Grant, Madison and Evan all raced in the 24hours of adrenalin race this weekend

Madison was very focussed on the start line!

Grant and I out for dinner celebrating my birthday.

Madison Turns 4

Where has the time gone.  Madison turned 4 years old last week.  We are just so in love with her and the person she is becoming.  She's funny, kind, sensitive,  compassionate and has a smile that can make you forget you were ever getting mad at her for something.  A little journey of her growth so far.

Canada day

Can't believe Madison is 4 years old already!  The older the kids get the more fun they get...I love seeing how every 6 months something else develops in their little brains....and it's always fun watching the two of them interact more and more with each other.  Just this spring kids starting coming to the door to see if Madison could come out and play....so cute!   Madison's sense of smell has just really started to develop and it's sooo funny the smells that she all of a sudden has started to notice (she no longer can be in the same room when I change Evan's diaper)
